About Rosemary...

Rosemary Oh has nurtured a love for painting and the arts since her youth, and today this love has lead her to being acknowledged as a well-respected personality in the art of porcelain painting.

Through the years, she has tried her hand at sketching, batik painting, Chinese painting, antique restoration and attended art appreciation classes - but porcelain painting remains her "Number One 'Love' ".

Rosemary was first introduced to this art form in 1984 when she attended an exhibition by porcelain artist Helga Noe-Nordberg in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her interest ignited, she studied under Helga until 1988 when she moved to Singapore, continuing there under well-known artist Trikie Quek. She also began participating in several exhibitions.

In 1990, Rosemary was living in Taipei, and began teaching a few close friends.

Word quickly spread and she soon had many ladies who were eager to learn from her. In Taipei, she held exhibitions of her work at the Community Services Center and Taipei American club with her students.

Following her husband's transfer to Hong Kong in 1993, Rosemary continued with giving classes, thoroughly enjoying the teaching and painting. She also enhanced her expertise by attending seminars in England (1994) and United States of America (1996, tutored by Barbara Jensen) and conventions in Australia (1998, 2003, 2005), and acquired certifications from the Australian Porcelain Artists and Teachers (APAT) and also IPAT (International PAT).

During her stay in Hong Kong, Rosemary was a sought-after teacher, and amongst those who invited her to share her skills were the Redhill Peninsula Club, Hong Kong Jockey Club and Hong Kong Pacific Club. On October 6th,1999, Rosemary together with her students, founded the Hong Kong Porcelain Painting Club, which today is actively involved with many porcelain painting projects in Hong Kong.

Currently living in Singapore, Rosemary has had the benefit of interacting with porcelain artists from all over the world, thanks to her husband's various career transfers to different countries. This has definitely moulded her learnings and skills - skills which she generously shares with many.

Like all true artists who spend a lifetime perfecting their art, Rosemary firmly believes that there is still much to learn, even as she teaches.
